I’ve been thinking. I know I know…seriously though, I’ve been thinking now for the past while about taking a shift in direction.
Over the past 5 years of being in Costa Rica, I’ve built up quite the reputation for my work in design and marketing including my much sought after Costa Rica SEO work. However recently I’ve noticed a trend that, to be honest, has probably been here all along, and that is this strange mentality whereas businesses of the Southern Zone of Costa Rica are ignoring their target markets.
Ignoring their target markets! Whatever do you mean?
Well, in my travels I’ve spoken to numerous business owners throughout the Southern Zone and it appears to be fairly straight across the board, that they don’t believe in online marketing strategies. Or if they do, they severely handicap their efforts by budgeting mere pennies for such an important aspect of conducting business within the tourism industry. If you run a hotel in Uvita or Dominical, where do you think the vast majority of your clientele are going to come from? Certainly not Dominical and Uvita if that’s what you are thinking. Heavens no, they are tourists who come to Costa Rica with predetermined plans on where they will stay, what they will do etc. for the time they are here.
So if you have a business and you’re not marketing to where your clients are going to see you, you should reconsider your marketing strategy. A wise man once said that,
“you can’t get different results by repeating yourself.”
Unless you are satisfied with complacency, a shift in strategy might just take your business to the next level meanwhile leaving behind those who still believe in marketing to locals and possibly some tourists “thinking” about returning who might just remember you for next time.
I don’t know about you but I prefer to not gamble if I don’t have to. 😉
